Peer Pressure or Purpose?

Feb 18, 2026    Bro. Blake Anderson

Bro. Blake walked us through the difference between giving in to peer pressure and standing firm in God-given purpose. We were reminded that pressures will come—but preparation in our hearts makes all the difference.

Here are this week’s Discussion Questions to help you reflect, grow, and talk through the message with your family, friends, or small group:

Icebreaker:

The speaker mentioned that adults experience peer pressure too. What’s a lighthearted example of a time you felt a little pressure to go along with something—maybe a trend, a habit, or a funny social expectation?

Defining Peer Pressure:

The speaker described peer pressure as peers influencing someone’s beliefs, values, religion, or behavior to push them toward something they aren’t comfortable doing. Can you recall a time when you saw or experienced this kind of pressure?

Peter & Daniel:

We heard about the different ways Peter and Daniel responded to pressure. What key difference stood out from their responses, and what does it teach us about preparing for life’s challenges?

Modern Pressures:

Politics, finances, cultural expectations, church dynamics—the list was long. Which of these pressures do you personally find most difficult to navigate, and why?

Purposing in Your Heart:

Daniel made up his mind before pressure arrived. Reflect on Daniel 1:8—

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself.”

What does it look like for you to “purpose in your heart” ahead of time when it comes to your faith and values?

Purpose Over Peers:

Where might God be inviting you to clarify your purpose so you can stand firm against outside pressure?

Anchoring in Truth:

Since “God and God’s Word stay the same,” what is one concrete step you can take this week to anchor yourself more deeply in God’s unchanging truth?

We pray these questions help you grow in wisdom and conviction this week. Join us again next Wednesday as we continue to learn and walk together in faith!
